Working mothers in Uzbekistan will be paid an allowance until their child reaches one year of age

Starting January 1, 2027, working mothers in Uzbekistan will begin receiving an allowance until their child reaches one year of age. The funds will be allocated from the State Social Insurance Fund.

These payments will become part of the state social insurance system, which already finances maternity and temporary disability benefits.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about the need for additional support for families with young children at a meeting on September 3. It was noted at the time that while the overall poverty rate in the country is 3.9%, among families with children under three years of age, this figure averages 6.5%. The authorities also intend to create conditions under which parents caring for children can work and earn an income at home or directly in the mahalla.

At the same meeting, it was announced that the allowance from the Social Insurance Fund is planned to be paid to working mothers included in the Social Register until the child reaches one year of age. Thus, the current decree consolidates the previously announced support measure.

It was also reported that starting from 2027, families from the Social Register will begin to be compensated via vouchers for expenses on public and private kindergartens, training centers, travel, and children's accommodation in university dormitories. The voucher will be valid for 12 months.
