Woman dies after two-car crash

A woman in her 70s has died after a two-car crash in the Republic of Ireland.

The crash took place near the Northern Ireland border on the N2 at Broomfield, County Monaghan, on Thursday morning.

The two drivers, a woman in her 30s and a man in his 50s, were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is still closed, and gardaí (Irish police) are asking anyone who may have seen the crash, which happened at about 10:10 local time, to get in touch.
