"We can become one of the key land routes of global trade" – Shavkat Mirziyoyev

"We can become one of the key land routes of global trade" – Shavkat Mirziyoyev

In his speech, the head of state noted the positive changes that have occurred in Central Asia in recent years. As the leader of Uzbekistan emphasized, the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia played a significant role in this.

He specifically noted the historical significance of completing the procedure for concluding the Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the XXI Century.

It was emphasized that within the framework of the regional process, there is no desire to create cumbersome structures.

"We need a flexible and understandable format in which strong, sovereign, and independent states cooperate on the basis of mutual respect, trust, and pragmatism," Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated.

The leader of Uzbekistan then briefly assessed the complex international situation against the backdrop of which the convergence of Central Asian countries is taking place.

"The world is changing rapidly, tension is growing, trade and transport links are being restructured, and new risks are emerging," the head of state emphasized.

In this regard, the importance of even closer coordination of further joint activities in particularly important areas of cooperation was outlined.

First of all, the idea of building a single space of cooperation with regions that have historical, economic, and transport links was put forward. It was proposed to use the opening opportunity to make them much stronger and fill them with concrete content through the joint development of trade, transport, energy, industry, and new technologies.

It was also proposed to discuss these issues in detail at the international conference "Interregional Dialogue for Peace and Sustainable Connectivity: The Central Asian Approach," which will be held next year in Tashkent.
