Uzbekistan's car market has recovered from its July decline, but remains below the 2025 level

Uzbekistan's car market compensated for the July decline, but still remains below the 2025 level

In August, 37,798 cars were sold in Uzbekistan — this is 20.4% more than in July, but 17.2% less than in the same month last year. At the same time, for January–August, passenger car sales almost reached 250 thousand units, which is 5.9% lower than the result for the same period of 2025.

As reported to Podrobno.uz by the Automobile Business Association of Uzbekistan, Chevrolet remained the market leader in August — cars of this brand accounted for about 28 thousand sales. This was followed by BYD with more than four thousand cars, Kia — 2.7 thousand, HAVAL — 878, and CHERY — 732. At the same time, sales of the Nevo and Geely brands grew to 210 and 201 cars, respectively.

The most sought-after model of the month was the Chevrolet Cobalt. In August, buyers purchased more than 12 thousand of these cars, compared to less than six thousand in July. Thus, the model's sales more than doubled over the month, and its share in the total market volume reached 32.3%.

At the same time, the demand for cars of different classes is changing unevenly. Sales of cars in segments A and B, as well as larger E/F cars, minivans, and light commercial vehicles, decreased compared to last year.

Meanwhile, buyers are increasingly preferring crossovers and larger vehicles. Sales growth was recorded in the SUV-E, SUV-D, and SUV-C segments, as well as among C-class sedans. The most notable dynamics were shown by premium SUVs, sales of which almost tripled.

The August sales growth comes amid an increase in domestic car production. According to the National Statistics Committee, 263.7 thousand passenger cars were produced in Uzbekistan in January–July — 9.4% more than in the same period of 2025. This includes UzAuto Motors producing 185.8 thousand cars, ADM Jizzakh — 27.7 thousand, and BYD — 17.8 thousand cars.

Earlier in July, Uzbekistan's car market as a whole maintained its level of activity: almost 80 thousand cars were sold. At the same time, sales of new cars and electric vehicles grew most noticeably, with demand for the latter increasing by 10.8% over the month.
