Cobalt's domestic sales fell by up to 2 times compared to production

In the first half of 2026, UzAuto Motors produced about 83,000 Cobalts, of which only 41,000 (49 percent) were sold to domestic buyers. Demand for this model in the domestic market fell by almost 40 percent in a year: in January-June last year, Uzbeks bought about 68,000 Cobalts from dealers, while this year this figure has fallen to 41,000.

Domestic sales of the Cobalt have fallen by half compared to production.

Although UzAuto Motors has increased production of its most popular model, the Cobalt, domestic sales of this model have declined significantly.

According to the Statistics Committee, 82,951 Cobalts were produced in the first half of 2026. This is 9.8 thousand units or 13.5% more than in the same period last year.

At the same time, sales statistics provided by Uzavtosanoat show that in the first half of this year, UzAuto Motors sold 40,936 Cobalts in the domestic market. This is only 49% of the above-mentioned production volume. The rest may be exported or waiting for a buyer in warehouses.

Compared to the first half of last year, domestic sales of Cobalt have decreased by 39 percent this year (from 67,580 to 40,936 units, or 26,644 units).

According to official statistics, Uzbekistan exported cars worth $130.4 million in January-June, which is 5 percent less than a year earlier. The Statistics Committee, Uzavtosanoat, and UzAuto Motors do not publish data on the physical volume and models of car exports.

Chevrolet sales in Kazakhstan increased by 32 percent

At the same time, Chevrolet sales in Kazakhstan, which is UzAuto Motors' main export market, have increased sharply this year. According to the Kazakhstan Automobile Association, Chevrolet sales in the primary car market in the first half of 2026 increased by 32% to 17,586 units. Of these, 16,370 units were sold by Cobalt.

With this indicator, Chevrolet leads the ranking of the best-selling cars in Kazakhstan. Hyundai, which is in second place, has decreased by 28.6% this year to 17,247 units (of which 8,601 units are Hyundai Tucson). Kia is in third place with 12,332 units sold (+8.9%) (the most sold Kia Sportage is 5,200 units).
