Uzbekistan to restrict electricity bill payments for consumers with unpaid water bills

Starting January 1, 2027, consumers with outstanding debts for drinking water and sewerage services in Uzbekistan will face restrictions on making electricity payments.

Uzbekistan will limit electricity bill payments for consumers who have unpaid water bills

Islom Abdullayev, first deputy chairman of Uzsuvtaminot, announced the measure at a press conference in Tashkent on October 30.

He said that if consumers do not pay their water and sewerage debts within the set period, the issue will be sent for collection through notarial or court proceedings.

“If the obligations are still not fulfilled within the prescribed period, consumers will face restrictions on their ability to pay for electricity,” Abdullayev said.

The new procedure is set to come into force on January 1, 2027.

Sanitation companies are responsible for making sure that waste collection fees are calculated accurately and fairly.
