Uzbekistan spent nearly 44 million dollars on mutton imports

In January–July 2026, Uzbekistan imported 18.9 thousand tons of mutton worth 43.8 million dollars. The import volume increased by 37.7 percent compared to the same period last year. Kazakhstan became the largest supplier.

Uzbekistan directed nearly 44 million dollars towards mutton imports

According to the National Statistics Committee, the volume of mutton imported into the country during the seven months increased by 5.2 thousand tons compared to the same period of 2025. This represents an increase of nearly 1.4 times.

During this period, the main part of the mutton was imported from Kazakhstan — 16.9 thousand tons. This is equivalent to nearly 90 percent of the announced total import volume.

The breakdown of countries that supplied mutton to Uzbekistan is as follows:

Kazakhstan

- 16.9 thousand tons;

Mongolia

- 891.3 tons;

Russia

- 635.7 tons;

other countries

- 517.2 tons.

Mongolia and Russia took the next places after Kazakhstan in terms of supply volume.

The recorded 37.7 percent growth refers to the volume of imports in tons. The report does not specify how much the value of imports changed compared to last year.
