In August, beef imports to Uzbekistan increased by 23 percent

In August, the largest volume of beef imports since the beginning of the year was recorded. This is stated in the data published by the Customs Committee.

In August 2026, a total of 21 thousand tons of beef worth $85.6 million was imported to Uzbekistan. This is 3 thousand tons, or 23.4 percent, more than the figure in July. This growth is the highest result observed since the beginning of the year.

In January, 11.6 thousand tons of meat were imported from abroad, 14.3 thousand tons in February, and 12.7 thousand tons in March. Additionally, 11.2 thousand tons of products were purchased in April, 9.3 thousand tons in May, and 12.9 thousand tons in June.

Overall, in January-August of this year, a total of 111.1 thousand tons of beef worth $519 million was imported into the country. This figure has increased by 21 thousand tons compared to the same period in 2025.

Currently, the annual demand for meat in Uzbekistan exceeds 2.1 million tons. Meanwhile, the volume of product production stands at 1.6 million tons. For this reason, the government plans to allocate $463 million to develop the livestock sector. A number of privileges and support measures for the sector have been announced.

Earlier, officials were tasked with importing 100 thousand head of cattle by the end of 2026.
