**Uzbekistan sharply increased propane imports**

Uzbekistan has increased its propane imports by 2.4 times over the last eight months. The relevant data was published by the Customs Committee.

In January-August 2026, the country purchased a total of 209.62 thousand tons of liquefied gas (propane) from abroad worth $124.3 million. This figure is 2.4 times higher compared to the volume of 87.73 thousand tons worth $35.7 million in the same period of 2025.

While the average import price of one ton of the product was $593 in the first eight months of the current year, this figure was $407 in January-August 2025. This means that the value of this year's propane imports increased by nearly 45.7 percent.

Propane imports by month were recorded as follows:

- January — 25.7 thousand tons;

- February — 28.7 thousand tons;

- March — 30.1 thousand tons;

- April — 23 thousand tons;

- May — 21.9 thousand tons;

- June — 26.6 thousand tons;

- July — 27.2 thousand tons;

- August — 26.2 thousand tons.

For comparison, 119.4 thousand tons of liquefied gas were purchased from abroad during 2024, and 163.6 thousand tons in 2025. Thus, the figure for the first eight months of 2026 was significantly higher than the annual figures of previous years.

On September 11, 2026, one ton of propane was sold on the exchange for 7.54 million soums ($641). A year earlier, this price was 6.7 million soums. The Statistics Committee reported that the price of propane increased by nearly 41.4 percent from August 2025 to August 2026.
