Uzbekistan flag to fly on New York's Central Avenue for 10 days

The flag of Uzbekistan will fly for 10 days on the main street of New York. On August 30, the national flag was raised on the famous Wall Street in Manhattan, New York, in connection with the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence. Now the flag will fly for 10 days on this central street.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the declaration of independence of Uzbekistan. The festive spirit has spread not only within the Republic, but also throughout the world. Uzbek societies and diplomatic corps are jointly holding various holidays and ceremonies.

Officials of the Uzbekistan Mission to the UN, chairmen and members of Uzbek societies in the United States, as well as compatriots took part in the ceremony. The national anthems of the two states were played. Diplomats invited Uzbeks to come here.

Abdumalik Ahmedov, chairman of the Uzbek-American Society “Mahalla USA”, who spoke with Kun.uz, believes that today no Uzbek is indifferent to what is happening in the Motherland. “Love for the Motherland does not choose geography, we have had great statehood in history. Those living in the United States are especially not indifferent to today's Uzbekistan,” he said.

Another compatriot, Mukarramkhon Egamberdiyeva, who works as an expert in the US Department of Finance and Taxation, noted that she misses Uzbek-language gatherings in Uzbekistan. “I know that families should be able to tell their children to speak Uzbek. I always miss gatherings and meetings in Uzbek,” she said.
