Uzbekistan explained the discrepancy in electricity generation data
The Ministry of Energy attributed the discrepancy with the Bureau of National Statistics data to the fact that its figures do not take into account the generation of small solar panels.

Uzbekistan explained the discrepancy in electricity production data
For January–September 2026, 69.6 billion kWh of electricity was generated in Uzbekistan.
The difference between the figures of the Ministry of Energy and the Statistics Committee is due to the fact that statistical reporting does not take into account the generation of small rooftop solar panels. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.
According to the agency, over the nine months, thermal power plants produced 49.1 billion kWh of electricity, large solar and wind power plants — 10.5 billion kWh, and hydroelectric power plants — 6.6 billion kWh.
Another 2.5 billion kWh came from small solar panels (Rooftop) installed on the roofs of buildings. Block power stations generated 867.1 million kWh of electricity over the same period.
The Ministry of Energy clarified that it was precisely the generation of small solar installations that caused the discrepancy between the data of the two agencies. Electricity produced by solar panels installed by the population and legal entities is not included in the generation indicators formed by the Statistics Committee.
Thus, when comparing the statistics of the Ministry of Energy and the Statistics Committee, it is necessary to take into account differences in the accounting methodology for small solar installations.
According to the Ministry of Energy, their generation for January–September amounted to 2.5 billion kWh.
