Thermal Power Plants Provided the Bulk of Uzbekistan's Electricity
In October 2026, 7.23 billion kWh of electricity was produced in Uzbekistan. This is 482.6 million kWh, or 7.2%, more than in the same month last year, the Ministry of Energy reports.
Despite the development of renewable energy, the main load still falls on thermal power plants. In October, they generated 5.45 billion kWh — about 75% of all electricity in the country. Compared to October 2025, this indicator grew by 2.3%.
At the same time, generation at solar and hydroelectric power plants grew noticeably. Solar power plants produced 729.9 million kWh — 39.2% more than a year earlier. Hydroelectric power plants generated 491.7 million kWh, increasing the figure by 41.8%.
Wind energy, on the contrary, slightly reduced generation: 459.6 million kWh versus 466.8 million kWh in October last year. The decline was 1.5%.
Another 89.2 million kWh came from modular power plants — 12.5% more than a year earlier. Small solar panels produced 10.7 million kWh, almost doubling the result of October 2025 (5.7 million kWh). The growth was 87.7%.
