Small businesses increased electricity production by a third.

The National Statistics Committee reported a 6.4% increase in total electricity generation in Uzbekistan for January-July 2026, driven by an increase in the share of small businesses.

Small businesses increased their electricity production by a third.

According to the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the total volume of electricity generated in the country reached 52,504.4 million kWh from January to July 2026. This is 6.4% more than the same period last year, when the figure was 49,344.4 million kWh.

There were significant changes in the production structure: large enterprises reduced their electricity production by 3.6%, producing 35,250.6 million kWh compared to 36,577.7 million kWh the year before. At the same time, small businesses significantly increased their electricity production by 35.2%, to 17,253.8 million kWh from 12,766.7 million kWh. These data demonstrate the growing importance of small businesses in Uzbekistan's energy sector.

In addition, from January to July 2026, large enterprises reduced thermal energy production by 18.3%, to 10,117.6 thousand Gcal, while a year earlier this figure was 12,387.8 thousand Gcal.
