Uzbekistan and Korea Intend to Strengthen Interparliamentary Cooperation
First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodyq Safoev held a meeting with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Song Seog-jun.
The talks focused on the further strengthening of interparliamentary ties and the development of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
The parties emphasized the consistent development of bilateral relations based on mutual trust, respect, and long-term strategic partnership. According to their assessment, a key role in this process is played by regular political dialogue and active cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Special attention was paid to expanding cooperation between relevant parliamentary committees and interparliamentary groups. The meeting participants also noted the need for a broader exchange of legislative experience in regulating new and promising industries.
A significant part of the negotiations was dedicated to the regional dimension of cooperation. Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea expressed interest in developing direct ties between the regions of the two countries.
In particular, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the fields of "smart cities," digitalization of local government, infrastructure, as well as the support and development of small and medium-sized businesses.
