Burkhanov, Monfarid Discuss Interparliamentary Cooperation
Qutbiddin Burkhanov, chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on Defence and Security and co-chair of the Uzbekistan-Iran Interparliamentary Cooperation Group, met in Samarkand with a delegation headed by Amir Monfarid, a member of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly and a member of the Iran-Uzbekistan Interparliamentary Cooperation Group.
The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, expand the activities of interparliamentary cooperation groups, exchange parliamentary experience and support joint initiatives.
The meeting noted that in recent years, multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran had reached a new level thanks to the political will and efforts of the leaders of both countries.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to continue regular interparliamentary dialogue and to make effective use of existing opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two parliaments.
