Uzbekistan and European universities may launch a joint master's program

According to the "Dunyo" information agency, this initiative was discussed at an international seminar dedicated to strengthening cooperation between the European Union and Central Asia.

The event was organized in the capital of Hungary by Eötvös Loránd University and Corvinus University. It was attended by representatives of the European Union, Hungary, the diplomatic corps, as well as scientific and expert-analytical circles of Europe and Central Asia.

The Uzbek side was represented by Ambassador Oybek Shakhavdinov and a delegation from the country's scientific and analytical institutions.

During the meeting, issues of climate change, water and energy security, the development of transport corridors, attracting investment, and expanding scientific and educational ties were discussed.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan presented the results of reforms in the country and the priority areas of cooperation with the European Union. In this process, special attention was paid to the implementation of the agreements of the first "Central Asia - European Union" summit held in Samarkand in April 2025.

The parties discussed using the opportunities of the Global Gateway initiative, developing "green" energy and transport infrastructure, processing critical raw materials, introducing water-saving technologies, and training qualified personnel.

Representatives of Uzbekistan also participated in expert discussions on water diplomacy and the sustainable management of transboundary water resources. The possibility of training a new generation of specialists in these specific areas through a joint master's program was considered separately.

At the conclusion of the event, promising areas for joint research and practical cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union were outlined.
