Uzbekistan and China intend to intensify inter-parliamentary ties

Uzbekistan and China Plan to Strengthen Interparliamentary Contacts
Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva held talks with a Chinese delegation led by Liu Haixing, Head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. At the meeting, the parties discussed the further development of interparliamentary ties and practical cooperation in the "Central Asia – China" format.
It was noted that thanks to the political will and strategic vision of the leaders of the two countries, Uzbek-Chinese relations have reached the level of an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership.
The dynamics of mutual visits and contacts between the leaders and members of the legislative bodies of Uzbekistan and China were positively assessed. Special attention was paid to the activities of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National People's Congress of China.
To increase the efficiency of parliamentary cooperation, it was proposed to make contacts between the heads of the legislative bodies of the two countries more regular. In addition, the discussion touched upon strengthening the work of interparliamentary cooperation groups and expanding interaction between relevant committees.
Among the proposed areas are the exchange of experience in the field of legislation, as well as holding joint parliamentary and expert events.
Uzbekistan also expressed interest in studying Chinese experience in a number of areas. These include regional development, poverty reduction, digitalization of public administration, development of the "green" economy, personnel training, and stimulating innovation.
Separately, the parties exchanged views on further cooperation between the political parties of the two countries.
During the talks, the role of the "Central Asia – China" format in creating additional opportunities for strengthening peace and stability in the region, as well as its sustainable development, was also noted.
