Uzbekistan and IPU Discuss New Areas of Cooperation

**Uzbekistan and IPU Explore New Cooperation Areas**
Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva met with Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Anda Filip on the sidelines of the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, according to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. The sides discussed the current state of cooperation, the results achieved, and priority areas for interaction.
Filip praised Uzbekistan’s initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Among the notable outcomes of the country’s active role in international inter-parliamentary dialogue were the Global Forum on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Bukhara, the Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament in Tashkent, and the Asian Women’s Forums in Samarkand and Bukhara.
The 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Tashkent in April 2025, was noted as the organization’s first such meeting in Central Asia. During the meeting, participants stressed the importance of UN General Assembly resolutions adopted at Uzbekistan’s initiative to strengthen the role of parliaments in international and global processes, calling them key elements of the country’s parliamentary diplomacy.
Both sides concentrated on further cooperation under the new Inter-Parliamentary Union Strategy. The participants exchanged views on deepening inter-parliamentary ties, broadening the exchange of experience, advancing joint initiatives, and carrying out practical projects.
