Two Uzbek citizens detained in Turkey, one of whom had been wanted for 9 years

Two Uzbek citizens who were on the international wanted list have been detained in Istanbul. This was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.

One of the detainees, F.F.N., had been wanted since 2017 on charges of robbery. He was sought under Part 3 of Article 164 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. Thus, an almost nine-year search ended with his detention in Turkey.

The second detainee was A.M.A. He was on the international wanted list on charges of fraud. His actions are classified under Part 3 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.

Following their detention, both citizens were handed over to the competent authorities of Uzbekistan in accordance with the established procedure. Currently, the necessary investigative and procedural actions regarding them are ongoing.

The consulate emphasized that the law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan and Turkey continue their cooperation. It is, in particular, aimed at identifying individuals on the international wanted list and bringing them to justice.
