Tolls announced for Uzbekistan's first toll road
The toll rates on the first toll road in Uzbekistan - the Urgench-Khiva highway - have been announced. The press service of the Roads Committee informed Spot about this.
The toll for passenger cars (category M1) for the full route from Khiva to Urgench and back is 25 thousand soums. There is also a shorter route with a length of 28 km - the road from the "Turkmanli" neighborhood to Khiva, the price of which is set at 20 thousand soums.
For light trucks weighing up to 3.5 tons (N1), buses for more than 8 passengers (M2/M3), and medium-duty trucks weighing 3.5-12 tons (N2), the full route fare is set at 40,000 soums, and for short routes it is 25,000 soums.
The toll is collected electronically, without stopping the vehicles. The traffic flow and payment system are managed using digital solutions based on artificial intelligence.
Currently, the payment system on the Urgench-Khiva toll road is operating in test mode and will be fully launched on August 25. The mobile application will be available for download on Google Play and App Store.
You can get information about road conditions, traffic jams, estimated travel time, and weather conditions through a special website. The site also has an electronic wallet, which can be replenished through the VIA third-party service developed by DEVHUB or by connecting a bank card. It is possible to pay the toll manually or activate the function of automatic withdrawal of funds from the balance after each trip.
It is also possible to add a vehicle to the site, indicating its license plate, category, manufacturer, model and color.
According to road signs, the maximum speed on the toll road is 150 km/h (130 km/h on turns), and the minimum speed is 40 km/h.
The movement of pedestrians, mopeds, horse-drawn carts and vehicles with trailers is prohibited on the road. Turning and parking are also prohibited.
A special modified bitumen mixture resistant to hot climates was used in the upper layers of the road surface. The total thickness of the coating is 87 centimeters. On August 18, the President inspected and drove the toll road.
According to the new version of the Law "On Motorways", adopted on August 5, the toll road fee may be fixed or calculated per kilometer traveled, or may be differentiated depending on the category of vehicle, time of day, day of the week, or month of the year.
