Timur Butunbayev has been assigned a new role in the Presidential Administration
By presidential decree, Timur Nuryigitovich Butunbayev has been appointed to the position of Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan on Water Reforms - Head of the Department of Legal Expertise. Prior to this, he had been working as the Deputy Head of the President's Administration on reforming the water supply system.
Timur Butunbayev assigned a new role in the Presidential Administration
In accordance with the decree of the President of Uzbekistan, Timur Nuryigitovich Butunbayev has been appointed to the position of Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Water Reforms - Head of the Legal Expertise Department.
At the same time, he was released from the position of Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Water Supply System Reform.
Timur Butunbayev has been working in leadership positions in the field of water management and water resources management.
In particular, prior to his work in the Presidential Administration, he served as the First Deputy Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan.
On July 14, 2025, by the relevant decree of the president, Timur Butunbayev was appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Water Supply System Reform. In this regard, he was released from the position of First Deputy Minister of Water Resources.
During his career at the Ministry of Water Resources, Butunbayev dealt with issues of modernizing irrigation systems, reducing water losses, and introducing public-private partnership mechanisms and digital technologies into the sector.
As Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, he also participated in coordinating reforms in the field of water management and water supply. In particular, in June 2026, he participated in discussions on water management issues, infrastructure projects, canal concreting, public-private partnerships, and the expansion of water-saving technologies in the Namangan region.
In July 2026, Timur Butunbayev participated as part of the delegation of Uzbekistan in the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development held in New York.
At the forum, he presented the country's experience in institutional and legal reforms implemented in the water sector of Uzbekistan, providing the population with clean drinking water, introducing water-saving technologies, digitalizing the sector, and developing regional water diplomacy.
Also in the same month, Butunbayev participated in a high-level meeting with the leadership of the United Nations Development Programme on issues of Uzbekistan's water security, climate resilience, and rational use of water resources.
Now, Timur Butunbayev, along with his duties as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Water Reforms, will also hold the position of Head of the Legal Expertise Department.
