Timur Ismailov appointed First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs

Timur Ismailov has been appointed First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan - Head of the Department of Public Security. He previously served as Head of the Surkhandarya Regional Department of Internal Affairs. The former Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Affairs, Bekmurod Abdullayev, was dismissed in November 2025 and is on trial.

In accordance with the relevant resolution of the President of Uzbekistan, Colonel Timur Kamalitdinovich Ismailov was appointed First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Head of the Department of Public Security. The press service of the ministry reported this.

In connection with this appointment, he was dismissed from the post of Head of the Surkhandarya Regional Department of Internal Affairs.

It should be recalled that the previous First Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Affairs, Bekmurod Abdullayev, was dismissed from his post in November 2025.

On January 26, it became known that he and the former head of the Department of Execution of Sentences, Rustam Tursunov, were arrested.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced at a meeting on January 27 that cases of embezzlement of budget funds had been identified in state procurements within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to him, 186 billion soums were looted. The head of state noted that criminal cases have been initiated against Bekmurod Abdullayev and Rustam Tursunov.

On July 28, the court will begin considering the criminal case against Bekmurod Abdullayev, Rustam Tursunov and 28 other individuals. Later, it became known that the trial will be held behind closed doors.
