The World Bank announced an increase in Uzbekistan's middle class to 72%

The World Bank reported that the share of the middle class in Uzbekistan has grown to 72%

In Uzbekistan, between 2021 and 2025, the share of the population belonging to the middle class increased from 37% to more than 72%.

At the same time, in Tashkent, the share of residents in the upper-middle class category reached 71.5%.

According to the World Bank's analysis, during these years, the share of the upper-middle class in the republic grew from 8% to 31%, and the lower-middle class from 29% to 41%. Meanwhile, the growth of indicators in the capital was significantly higher than in other regions of the country.

Experts identify wage growth in the private sector as one of the main factors behind the expansion of the middle class. In addition, Tashkent accounts for 29% of all official, high-skilled private sector jobs in the country.
