In Uzbekistan, Cyril Gout, a representative of the Ministry of the Interior of France, has assumed his duties. He is France's sole internal security attaché in the Central Asian region and is authorized to handle all matters of mutual interest. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, where a meeting took place between the representative and Nodirbek Mahmudov, the Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The press service of the French Embassy explained the responsibilities assigned to the Ministry of the Interior representative in Uzbekistan. They reported that the decision to establish the post of internal security attaché in Uzbekistan was made in 2025 following meetings between the presidents of France and Uzbekistan, as well as to intensify cooperation in the technical sphere.
"The police officer appointed to this position has regional competence for the entirety of Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan) and is based in Tashkent. He is the sole French internal security attaché in the region and is authorized to address all matters of mutual interest in the field of internal security," the embassy noted.
This refers to areas such as the training of internal security personnel, the fight against organized crime (cybercrime, drug trafficking, etc.), the protection of high-ranking officials, countering terrorism, border security and the fight against illegal immigration networks, civil protection, and safety.
"Technical cooperation with Uzbekistan already exists and will be further strengthened through the exchange of experience between police academies, in the fields of civil protection, protection of high-ranking officials, the fight against cybercrime, road safety, and the fight against drugs," the French Embassy added.
