Cyril Gout, a representative of the French Ministry of the Interior, has started his activities in Tashkent. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan announced that Nodirbek Mahmudov, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry, met with him.
It is noted that during the meeting, issues of expanding cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the two countries were discussed, including in the areas of experience exchange and staff training.
It is emphasized that the decision to open the position of internal security attaché in Uzbekistan was made following the meetings of the Presidents of France and Uzbekistan in 2025 and with the aim of intensifying cooperation in the technical field.
"The law enforcement officer appointed to this position has regional competence for the whole of Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan) and will be based in Tashkent. He is the only French internal security attaché in the region and is authorized to address all issues of common interest in the field of internal security," the embassy noted.
This includes issues such as training internal security personnel, combating organized crime (cybercrime, drug trafficking, etc.), protecting high-ranking officials, combating terrorism, border security and combating illegal immigration networks, civil protection and safety.
"Technical cooperation with Uzbekistan already exists, and it will be further strengthened in the areas of experience exchange between law enforcement academies, civil protection, protection of high-ranking officials, combating cybercrime, road safety, and the fight against drug addiction," the French Embassy added.
