The President of Uzbekistan delivered a speech at the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which is taking place in Bishkek.
At the beginning of his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadir Japarov, for the warm welcome and high-level organization of the summit, and sincerely congratulated the fraternal Kyrgyz people on the 35th anniversary of state sovereignty.
The President of Uzbekistan delivered a speech at the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Bishkek.
In his speech, the President said:
"Dear participants of the meeting!
We highly appreciate the fruitful results achieved during the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan in the SCO and support the agenda and draft resolutions of today's meeting.
This summit is being held in the year of the 25th anniversary of the SCO.
I fully agree with my colleagues that over the past quarter of a century, this organization has demonstrated its necessity and effectiveness.
Adhering to the principles of the "Shanghai Spirit", the organization has ensured equal dialogue, promoted regional stability and sustainable development of our countries.
From the very first days of its establishment, Uzbekistan has consistently supported the strengthening of the SCO as an open, non-aligned and peace-loving cooperation platform.
We particularly appreciate the fact that Central Asia, which is the geographical and strategic core of the SCO, is at the center of our cooperation.
Dear Colleagues!
Our meeting is taking place at a time of growing geopolitical divisions, distrust, escalating conflicts, and the erosion of international law.
The development of the situation in the Middle East is of particular concern.
We are firm supporters of the restoration of dialogue and de-escalation of tensions in the region.

I would like to touch upon the most pressing tasks facing the SCO.
Today, it is important not only to effectively resolve emerging problems, but also to clearly imagine how we would like to see the Organization in the long term.
The competitiveness of our states directly depends on their readiness to combine their potential and create new opportunities for joint development.
I am convinced that the enormous human, natural, industrial and intellectual resources of the SCO countries should, first of all, serve to improve the well-being of our peoples.
