President of Uzbekistan meets with UN Secretary-General

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Bishkek.
At the beginning of the meeting, the UN Secretary-General congratulated the leader and people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country's independence and wished them peace, prosperity and development.
During the talks, issues of further expanding and strengthening cooperation with the UN and its structures were discussed.
President Mirziyoyev highly appreciated the personal contribution of Antonio Guterres to the development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN and expressed support for the Secretary-General's initiatives aimed at reforming the organizational system.
The parties noted with satisfaction the expansion of active dialogue, mutual visits and Uzbekistan's participation in the activities of the UN's elected bodies. It was noted that in recent years, 15 resolutions of the UN General Assembly had been adopted at the initiative of Uzbekistan.
Antonio Guterres welcomed Uzbekistan's significant achievements in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and confirmed his readiness to continue cooperation in this area more actively.
During the conversation, views were exchanged on current issues of the international and regional agenda, as well as a plan for future joint activities.
