New generation of Honda Accord to become a cross-station wagon

Japanese company Honda plans a large-scale update of the Accord family in the second half of 2027, Automotive News reports, citing sources familiar with the company's plans. The model will receive a new design, and a version with a body combining a station wagon and a crossover will appear in the model lineup.

The appearance of the next-generation Accord model is expected to change significantly: instead of its current look, the car will take on a more sporty and futuristic appearance. According to one assumption, the design development may use solutions previously demonstrated by Honda in the 0 Series electric vehicle family concepts. Another possible source is a prototype presented by the company in the spring of 2026.

Changes are also expected in the cabin. In particular, the Accord may feature larger displays, expanded multimedia capabilities, and improved trim materials.

At the same time, according to preliminary information, the technical basis of the model will remain unchanged. The car will retain its current platform, while the main changes will apply to the hybrid powertrains with 1.5- and 2-liter engines. They are planned to be improved in order to reduce fuel consumption.

A separate off-road Accord modification combining the features of a station wagon and a crossover is expected to be released in 2029. According to the publication's interlocutors, it could become the spiritual successor to the Honda Accord Crosstour model produced in the first half of the 2010s.
