The new Mitsubishi Outlander will go on sale in 2028
The new generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander will be presented in 2028, with the Elevance concept car serving as the basis for the crossover's exterior design.

The Japanese company Mitsubishi is preparing a new generation of the Outlander model. The generation change could take place in another two years — the premiere of the new crossover is expected in 2028, the Japanese publication Response reported, citing a statement from the company.
In terms of appearance, the new Outlander will be based on the Elevance concept car presented by Mitsubishi last year. In terms of dimensions and shape, the concept is close to the current Outlander model, but features an entirely new design in the spirit of the previously presented Pajero.
If based on the concept, the rear section will feature a solid LED strip and new taillights that rise along the D-pillars and cross the rear of the body.
The current Outlander plug-in hybrid is equipped with a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine, two electric motors, and a 22.7 kWh battery. The total output is 297 horsepower and 450 Nm, with an all-electric range of up to 106 km.
In the new generation, Mitsubishi may add two more electric motors — making a total of four. This will not only increase power but will also become a key element of the next-generation S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control) all-wheel-drive system, which was also demonstrated in the Elevance concept. The system distributes torque across the wheels for more precise handling and improved ride quality.
