The Netherlands has concluded its 12-year participation in the military operation against ISIS in Iraq.

The Kingdom has ended its involvement in the international operation Inherent Resolve against the Islamic State terrorist group in Iraq.

As stated by the Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, over the past 12 years, more than 6.3 thousand Dutch military personnel, together with international partners, have participated in expelling terrorists from Iraq.

According to the Kingdom's Ministry of Defence, the Netherlands joined the operation in October 2014. Currently, the US-led counter-terrorism operation in Iraq has concluded, but the mission continues its work on the territory of Syria. At the same time, the Netherlands remains involved in a separate NATO mission to train and advise Iraqi security forces.
