The Iraqi government has announced that all US combat units and logistical support forces have withdrawn from the country. Washington had not officially confirmed this information by the time the report was published.

According to DW, citing the dpa agency, a representative of the Iraqi government announced this on the night of September 28.
"All combat units and forces that provided logistical support have left the country," the government representative said.
The US and Iraq reached an agreement on the withdrawal of American troops in 2024. According to Washington, about 2,500 US military personnel have been deployed in Iraq in recent years.
The last American units were located in the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan region, at a military base near Baghdad airport, and in the capital's "green zone," where government offices are situated.
The US and its allies have been fighting against the ISIS terrorist organization in Iraq and Syria since 2014.
Although the organization has lost the vast territories it previously controlled in both countries, some of its sleeper cells remain and still carry out terrorist attacks.
dpa notes that against the backdrop of the war in Iran, the security situation in Iraq has also deteriorated. During the conflict, attacks were carried out on US facilities and facilities belonging to Kurdish forces in the country.
According to the agency, on September 28, the deadline for the withdrawal of US troops, "Independence Day" celebrations are expected to be held in Iraq. It is said that all government institutions will be closed on this day.
According to the previous plan, simultaneously with the withdrawal of American troops, armed groups linked to Iran were to be disarmed, and their members integrated into the state security forces.
However, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi announced that this measure would be postponed until June 2027.
The US and its allies invaded Iraq in 2003 to overthrow the regime of Saddam Hussein. Later, one of the main directions of the international military presence in the country became the fight against ISIS.
