The Ministry of Emergency Situations Warned Uzbeks About the Danger of Carbon Monoxide During Home Heating. Video

With the arrival of cold weather, the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning increases due to the use of stoves and gas equipment. Ahead of the heating season, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan urged residents to check heating appliances, clean chimneys, and follow safety rules.

The agency published recommendations to help avoid accidents during the cold season.

First of all, it is necessary to ensure that stoves and gas equipment are in good working order, and that chimneys, exhaust pipes, and ventilation ducts are not clogged. Using faulty stoves, equipment without a certificate of conformity, or unauthorizedly modified devices is prohibited.

If malfunctions are identified, they should not be repaired on one's own. Such work must be entrusted to qualified specialists from gas and electric services.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations paid special attention to the rules for operating heating appliances at home. Stoves and gas equipment that are turned on must not be left unattended. Rooms should be ventilated regularly, and it is recommended to turn off heating appliances before going to sleep.

It is equally important to observe safety measures in apartment buildings. Ventilation ducts must not be used as chimneys or blocked, as this disrupts air exhaust and can create dangerous conditions.

Carbon monoxide is especially dangerous because it has no color or smell, making it difficult to detect without special tools. The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges people to check their equipment in advance and follow precautions without waiting for the start of the heating season.
