The commander of the rescue squad, Rustam Buriev, reported that the notification about the drowning of three people — a father and his two sons — was received via the 112 number.
According to him, the family had rented a boat for a trip on the reservoir. In addition to the boat driver, the spouses, their daughter, and two sons were on board.
During a stop to take photos, one of the sons decided to go for a swim. He did not put on a life jacket. It was windy, and there were waves on the water. The young man's leg cramped. The father jumped into the water after him, followed by the second son.
The boat driver tried to save all three, but was unable to do so. "It all happened very quickly," the rescuer said.
Five rescue squads have been deployed to the rescue operation. Seven rescue teams are working in the water. On the instructions of the minister, squads from the Syrdarya and Jizzakh regions have also been involved.
Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other services are working at the headquarters.
Rustam Buriev urged citizens not to swim outside designated areas. When riding boats and jet skis, it is mandatory to wear a life jacket, and a licensed driver must always be nearby, he said.
