The main causes of divorce in Uzbekistan have been announced
It was reported that the main factors of divorce in Uzbekistan are mutual distrust, lack of understanding, financial difficulties, and the interference of third parties in the family.
It was noted at the meeting that in the first half of 2026, the number of divorces across the republic increased by 6.3 percent compared to the same period last year. Senate Chairperson Tanzila Norboyeva emphasized the need to deeply analyze the reasons why divorces continue to increase despite the measures being taken.
According to Dilnoza Kattaxonova, an analysis of divorce applications submitted to courts shows that reasons such as incompatibility of characters, mutual distrust, and unpreparedness for family life account for a large share. She noted that these factors together constitute more than 60 percent of the causes of divorce.

According to the committee chairperson, some of these causes can be resolved at the mahalla level. Therefore, starting from the stage when the application for marriage registration is submitted, it is planned that the mahalla "seven", elders, mahalla chairpersons, and women's activists will work with the youth and their family members.
In particular, if financial difficulties or unemployment are the cause of the divorce, measures will be taken to ensure the employment of family members, and if there are other social or psychological problems, separate targeted work will be organized for them.
Kattaxonova stated that separate measures will be developed for each cause of divorce and their implementation will be monitored. The committee plans to shift the work with families from holding mass events to an individual and result-oriented system based on the specific cause of the problem.
