The height of the Rogun Dam has reached 190 meters
In the very heart of Central Asia, the Rogun Dam continues to approach a record height, We Build Value reports.

The height of the Rogun HPP dam has reached 190 meters
The dam being built in Tajikistan by Webuild has risen to 1,155 meters above sea level. Its height is currently approximately 190 meters, which allows for a gradual increase in the water level of the reservoir.
The level achieved will make it possible to increase electricity generation at the two already operating turbines even before the construction of the facility is fully completed.
Upon completion of the work, the height of the Rogun dam is expected to be 335 meters, making it the tallest dam in the world. With an installed capacity of 3,600 MW, the Rogun HPP will double electricity production in Tajikistan and become a significant energy infrastructure facility in the region.
190 meters have already been built — another 145 meters lie ahead. In the very heart of Central Asia, among the mountains of Tajikistan, the Rogun dam continues to grow, approaching the status of the tallest dam in the world.
The body of the dam has reached 1,155 meters above sea level, which corresponds to a height of about 190 meters out of the 335 meters planned upon completion of construction. This achievement is not just another stage of a large-scale project: it will allow for further raising of the water level in the reservoir to 1,140 meters above sea level.
It is noted that more water means more renewable energy. The uniqueness of the Rogun HPP is that it is already producing electricity despite ongoing construction. Currently, two of the six planned turbines are operating. As the reservoir fills, the volume of available water and the hydraulic head grow, allowing for increased electricity generation even before construction is completed.
The Rogun HPP is being built in one of the most spectacular and challenging regions of Central Asia. The hydroelectric power plant is located on the Vakhsh River, whose waters originate in the mountain ranges of the region. Upon completion of construction, the height of the dam will reach 335 meters, making it the tallest dam in the world.
Webuild is executing Lot 2 of the project, valued at approximately $2.3 billion, commissioned by OJSC Rogun HPP. The project involves the construction of a facility with six turbines of 600 MW each and a total installed capacity of 3,600 MW.
