Rogun dam has reached 190 meters: the plan is 335 meters
The height of the Rogun HPP dam under construction in Tajikistan has reached nearly 190 meters. Upon completion of construction, the 335-meter structure is expected to be the tallest dam in the world. The possibility of exporting a portion of the electricity generated within the framework of the project to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan is also being considered.

**Rogun dam has reached 190 meters, with a plan of 335 meters**
The body of the Rogun dam has been raised to the mark of 1,155 meters above sea level. This means that the height of the dam has reached nearly 190 meters. According to the project, it must be raised to 335 meters.
This stage achieved in construction allows the water level in the reservoir to be increased to the mark of 1,140 meters above sea level.
**The HPP is generating electricity even during the construction process**
A unique aspect of the Rogun HPP is that despite the ongoing construction work, the station is already generating electricity. Two of the six turbines planned in the project are operational.
The gradual filling of the reservoir increases the usable water volume and pressure. This allows for increased electricity generation even before the completion of construction.
**The Vakhsh River has been diverted through two tunnels**
Rogun is a rock-fill dam being built with a clay core. To begin work on its foundation, the flow of the Vakhsh River was diverted through two underground tunnels.
The base of the clay core is divided into eight blocks, each 20–25 meters long. Together, they make up a 180-meter section. To construct these blocks, nearly 290,000 cubic meters of roller-compacted concrete was used.
More than half of the volume of materials planned to be placed in the dam body has already been laid.
Additionally, a total of more than 500,000 meters of drilling work has been completed to strengthen the foundation and create a grouting curtain that limits water seepage. This work is being carried out in mountainous conditions using a special production system designed for transporting large volumes of materials.
**Total capacity will reach 3,600 megawatts**
Once all six turbines are commissioned, the installed capacity of the Rogun HPP is planned to be 3,600 megawatts.
The project information notes that the station will allow Tajikistan to double its current volume of electricity generation.
