The head of the Presidential Administration stated that since the current legislation does not provide for the death penalty, a proposal is being prepared to amend the legislative acts in order to strengthen liability to the maximum extent possible.

The head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, reacted to the situation regarding the rape of a 5-year-old girl in Namangan.

I was informed about the tragedy that occurred in Namangan. Hearing about what happened, my anger knew no bounds.

In my opinion, the death penalty should be applied for such brutal crimes. The current legislation does not provide for the capital punishment, which is why we are preparing a proposal to amend the legislation to maximize the liability.

All necessary instructions have been given to the relevant authorities. The criminal will face the harshest punishment within the law. Also, all responsible officials who, through their negligence, paved the way for this atrocity and failed to protect the innocent child will be punished.
