Temperature inversion in Tashkent will persist until the end of the week — Uzhydromet

Temperature inversion, observed against the backdrop of warm and dry weather, will persist in Tashkent until November 1. The lack of precipitation, light winds, and inversion slow down the atmosphere's self-cleaning process and contribute to an increase in the concentration of dust particles in the air, Uzhydromet warned.

Relatively warm and dry weather is forecast in Tashkent during the week. Daytime temperatures will warm up to +18…+20, and nighttime temperatures to approximately +8…+10 degrees. Against the background of the expected meteorological conditions, atmospheric inversion will be observed in the city until November 1, Uzhydromet reports.

"The absence of precipitation, relatively weak wind, and inversion combined can slow down the process of natural self-purification of the atmosphere. In this regard, an increase in the concentration of dust particles and other pollutants, or the preservation of their elevated level, is possible in Tashkent until November 1," the statement reads.

Uzhydromet also added that the actual state of atmospheric air quality and its changes depend on the volume of pollutant emissions, as well as on wind speed and direction.

Atmospheric inversion is a meteorological phenomenon in which air temperature does not decrease with height, as usual, but, on the contrary, increases. During such an inversion, a warmer layer forms above the cold surface layer of air. This prevents the vertical mixing of air masses and can contribute to the accumulation of dust particles and other pollutants in the lower layers of the atmosphere.
