Air quality in Tashkent may deteriorate tonight

A temperature inversion is expected to be observed in Tashkent from 21:00 on September 22 to 04:00 on the morning of September 23. During this, the air near the earth's surface cools down, while the air in the higher layer remains relatively warm.

According to forecasts, the wind speed in the capital will decrease to 0.5–1 meters/second during certain hours, and the vertical mixing of air will slow down. Since no precipitation is expected, conditions may arise for the accumulation of PM2.5 and PM10 particles in the near-surface layer.

Due to the expected situation, between 22:00 and 01:00, the air quality in most areas of Tashkent may deteriorate to an "unhealthy for sensitive groups" level according to the AQI. In the morning, the inversion is expected to weaken, and the air quality will gradually improve.

Therefore, it was recommended not to stay outdoors for a long time in the evening. The quality of atmospheric air is currently under constant control by the Special Commission.

On the evening of September 18, the amount of PM2.5 and, especially, PM10 particles in the atmospheric air of Tashkent city increased sharply in a short period of time. According to the Special Commission, this was caused by a combination of dry weather, poor air circulation, and the entry of dust masses into the area.
