Tashkent metro served nearly 300 thousand passengers in five hours
On September 14, from 05:00 to 10:00, 288,187 passengers used the Tashkent metro.
Following the start of the new academic year for all courses in higher education institutions, the demand for public transport, especially metro services, has increased.
During this time interval, the highest number of passengers was carried from 08:00 to 09:00 — 103,285 people. The number of passengers by hours was recorded as follows:
05:00–06:00 — 5,806 people;
06:00–07:00 — 26,882 people;
07:00–08:00 — 92,470 people;
08:00–09:00 — 103,285 people;
09:00–10:00 — 59,744 people.
The highest passenger flow was observed at the "Chinor", "Sergeli", "Choshtepa", "Olmazor", "Chilonzor", "Buyuk ipak yo‘li", "Do‘stlik", and "Beruniy" metro stations.
During peak hours of the day, train intervals have been reduced. Trains are operating at intervals of 1.5–2 minutes on the Chilonzor line, 3 minutes on the O‘zbekiston line, 4 minutes on the Yunusobod line, and 7–8 minutes on the Above-ground ring line.
In a video published by the metro administration, passengers also noted that trains are arriving more frequently than before.
"Previously, it would take five to six minutes. Now they arrive in two minutes. It has become good now during the study period. It has become good not only for students but also for working people, because they reach their work and studies on time," said one of the passengers.
Another passenger said that trains used to arrive in 4–5 minutes, but now they arrive every two minutes.
Another passenger described the metro as "faster and more convenient than a taxi."
Earlier, it was reported that a proposal was being made to increase the fare for buses and the metro in Tashkent up to 2.5 thousand soums.
