Tashkent Metro Comments on Passenger Crowding at "Pakhtakor" Station. Video
On the evening of October 20, a crowd of passengers gathered at the "Pakhtakor" metro station in Tashkent. Metro officials explained that at approximately 17:43, two trains arrived at the station simultaneously, causing a sharp increase in the flow of people.
The metro's press service noted that such situations are common during peak hours and typically return to normal within a few minutes.
Meanwhile, the daily passenger flow of the Tashkent Metro exceeds 1.2 million people. To reduce crowding at stations and make trips more convenient, the metro is reducing the intervals between trains.
On the Chilanzar line, intervals are 1.5–2 minutes, on the Uzbekistan line — up to three minutes, and on the Yunusabad line — up to four minutes. On the elevated ring line, trains are scheduled to run at intervals of 7–8 minutes.
The company emphasized that it continues to work on regulating passenger traffic and ensuring stable train movement so that the transport system remains convenient and safe.
Earlier, a technical malfunction in one of the trains led to an increase in train intervals on the Chilanzar metro line.
