Surgeons in Uzbekistan carry out first combined liver-kidney transplant
Uzbekistan’s surgeons have performed the country’s first simultaneous liver and kidney transplant on a patient with cirrhosis and end-stage kidney failure, local television channel Sevimli reported.

Uzbekistan's medical community marks a significant achievement as surgeons successfully perform the nation's inaugural combined liver-kidney transplant. The groundbreaking operation took place at the National Medical Center in Tashkent, where the patient, who had been undergoing hemodialysis for four years, received both organs. According to medical professionals involved in the procedure, a single-organ transplant would not have adequately addressed the patient's complex health issues, making the dual transplant the sole effective course of treatment.
