For the first time in Uzbekistan, a simultaneous liver and kidney transplant was successfully performed on a patient. This complex surgical procedure was performed at the National Medical Center.

The operation was performed on a patient suffering from cirrhosis of the liver and end-stage chronic renal failure. According to information, the patient had been undergoing hemodialysis for four years.

Doctors say that in such severe cases, transplanting only the liver or only the kidney may not give the expected result. Therefore, a simultaneous transplant of both organs was considered the only effective solution to save the patient's life.
