Uzbekistan proposes compensating transportation costs for hemodialysis patients

A proposal has been put forward in Uzbekistan to reimburse transportation costs for patients requiring hemodialysis.

The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan has presented a new initiative under which patients regularly undergoing hemodialysis will be able to independently choose their mode of transportation to and from medical facilities, and the state will reimburse their transportation costs.

The proposed mechanism will allow patients to use taxis, personal cars, or any other convenient mode of transportation to travel to treatments. It is planned that these costs will be reimbursed in accordance with established procedures.

The Ministry believes this approach will allow patients to save time and choose the most convenient mode of transportation, without being limited to any particular mode of transportation.

Before implementing this mechanism, the ministry decided to conduct a survey among patients themselves to take their opinions into account. The survey will run until August 15. The Ministry of Health emphasizes that the feedback received will help refine the initiative to best meet the actual needs of patients.

Patients are encouraged to actively participate in the survey and share their suggestions, which will be taken into account in the further development of the compensation system.

As a reminder, starting July 1, 2026, temporary disability benefits in Uzbekistan will be assigned proactively, meaning employees will no longer need to submit applications or provide additional documentation.
