Starting November 1, drivers not wearing seatbelts will also be captured by private speed cameras

In Uzbekistan, starting November 1, 2026, special photo and video recording devices installed by entrepreneurs will be permitted to record drivers' violations of seat belt usage rules.

Starting from November 1, drivers not wearing seatbelts will also be caught by private radars.

This procedure is specified in Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 596 dated October 29, 2026. The document introduces amendments and additions to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 232 dated April 21, 2021.

According to the new requirements, when recording a violation, the driver's face and whether or not they are wearing a seatbelt must be clearly reflected in high-quality photographs.

The system must have the capability to automatically transmit the following data to the "Administrative Practice" module: the number and validity period of the metrological verification certificate; the date and time the violation was detected; the exact coordinates of the location where the violation occurred.

In addition, the devices must be equipped with a backup power source that ensures operation for at least eight hours in the event of a power outage.
