Six airstrikes carried out on Zaporizhzhia
On the morning of October 9, Russian troops launched six strikes on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia using guided aerial bombs. According to the regional prosecutor's office, a 50-year-old man was killed, and nine other people, including a 14-year-old girl, were injured.

According to DW, Mikhail Semikin, the acting head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, stated that the attack targeted residential areas. One of the strikes landed near an extracurricular educational institution.
Ivan Fedorov, the head of the regional defense council, reported that the exterior walls of several multi-story residential buildings were damaged.
Russian drone attacks also caused casualties and destruction in other regions of Ukraine.
On the evening of October 8, a jet drone attacked the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. The city's mayor, Ruslan Martsinkiv, said that falling drone debris caused a fire in a utility building, killing a security guard who was guarding it.
In the Odessa region, fires broke out in two residential buildings, the administrative building of a gas compressor station, and the port infrastructure area following jet drone strikes. According to preliminary data from the regional department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, five people were injured.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that Russia used a total of 136 unmanned aerial vehicles starting from 18:00 on October 8. Among them were Shahed and "Gerbera" strike drones, as well as "Parodiya" decoys. A total of 93 of the drones were reportedly of the jet Shahed type.
According to preliminary data as of 08:00 on October 9, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or disabled with electronic warfare 114 drones. Of these, 77 were jet Shahed drones.
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups, participated in repelling the attack.
It was reported that drones hit eight locations, and debris from downed UAVs was found in seven other locations.
Amid the attacks on Ukraine's western regions, Poland also scrambled its military aircraft on the evening of October 8. The Operational Command of the country's Armed Forces announced that ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were placed on high alert.
