Konotop, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv were attacked by drones
As a result of another drone attack by Russian troops on Ukraine, a kindergarten, a school, medical facilities, residential buildings, as well as transport and energy infrastructure were damaged in the city of Konotop in the Sumy region. Local authorities reported that two women were injured. In Zaporizhzhia, a shopping mall was destroyed as a result of a strike.
Konotop, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv attacked by drones
On the night of September 18, Russian troops struck several regions of Ukraine with unmanned aerial vehicles, DW reports, citing data from Ukrainian official agencies.
As a result of the attacks on the city of Konotop in the Sumy region, a kindergarten, a school, and a medical facility were damaged. In addition, private homes, a gas distribution network, small businesses, power lines, and railway infrastructure were damaged.
The mayor of Konotop, Artem Semenikhin, said that two women were injured as a result of the attack. Due to the damage to the gas distribution network, part of the city was left without gas.
On the evening of September 17, Russian troops also struck a shopping mall in Zaporizhzhia, local authorities reported.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a large fire broke out after the strike, and the shopping mall was destroyed. One person was injured.
Rescuers extinguished the fire, which covered an area of more than 10,000 square meters. According to the Ukrainian rescue service, due to the threat of repeated strikes, firefighters were forced to suspend their work several times and retreat to shelters. Later, the emergency rescue operations were completed.
The Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, was also attacked by drones in the evening. According to the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, an unmanned aerial vehicle hit a non-residential building in the Podilskyi district.
As a result of the attack, one man was injured and hospitalized.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched a total of 93 unmanned aerial vehicles at Ukraine during the night attack.
The Ukrainian side stated that these included Shahed-type strike drones, jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles, decoy devices such as "Gerbera" and "Parodiya", as well as "Banderol" and "Dan-T" type assets.
