Three killed as Russia launches fresh aerial attacks across Ukraine
Firefighters are tackling a fire at a market in Kyiv, while Moscow reports that a warehouse was hit.
Russia's latest wave of aerial assaults across Ukraine has resulted in at least three fatalities and over 10 injuries, according to official reports.
In Kyiv, firefighters are battling a blaze that erupted overnight at a market after it was struck by Russian missiles and drones. Ukraine claims to have intercepted three Russian missiles and nearly 100 drones.
Concurrently, Moscow's mayor stated that approximately 600 Ukrainian drones were launched towards the city overnight, with a warehouse belonging to the Russian online retailer Wildberries sustaining a hit.
In recent weeks, Russia has escalated its aerial attacks throughout Ukraine, while Kyiv has intensified its targeting of Russian logistics hubs to disrupt military supplies.
Kyiv has experienced air-raid sirens sounding four times since Saturday night. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported at least six injuries, including one child.
In Zaporizhzhia, a southern city, regional head Ivan Fedorov confirmed two deaths after a Russian guided aerial bomb destroyed a house. Officials in Dnipropetrovsk also reported one fatality and 14 injuries.
In Russia, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that three people were injured in a Ukrainian strike. He added that roughly one-third of the drones launched by Ukraine at the capital were destroyed.
A Wildberries warehouse in Koledino, located 25km (15.5 miles) from central Moscow, was hit in the attack, Sobyanin confirmed. Videos depicted a fire and a substantial plume of smoke rising from the warehouse.
Wildberries, often referred to as Russia's equivalent of Amazon, has been repeatedly targeted since July. At that time, Kyiv announced its intention to target logistics hubs used by Russians to acquire military equipment and disrupt supplies to the Russian army.
Separately, the Romanian defense ministry reported that a Spanish fighter jet shot down a drone that had violated its airspace near the border with Ukraine and Moldova. The drone entered from Moldova and was intercepted by an F-18 deployed on Nato duties at 05:01 local time (02:01 GMT) on Sunday, according to a ministry statement. Debris fell in an unpopulated area of the Galati region, near the Ukrainian border.
