President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the US House of Representatives. The meeting discussed issues of strengthening strategic partnership, expanding trade, economic and interparliamentary cooperation. It was noted that since the beginning of this year, trade between the two countries has increased by 20 percent.

On August 25, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the House of Representatives of the United States Congress. The delegation included Congressmen Jason Smith, Greg Murphy, Ronnie Jackson, and Edward Case.
At the beginning of the meeting, the American lawmakers congratulated the President and people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country's independence.
During the talks, issues of further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States and developing inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed.
It was noted that positive growth is observed in bilateral relations, political dialogue is at a high level, and mutual contacts and visits have become more active.
It was also noted that during a recent telephone conversation between the leaders of Uzbekistan and the United States, priority areas for further expanding strategic partnership were identified.
Special attention was paid to trade and economic cooperation at the meeting. According to reports, since the beginning of this year, the volume of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and the United States has increased by 20 percent.
Currently, a three-year Economic Cooperation Program is being implemented, which provides for the launch and implementation of major projects in the fields of energy, essential minerals, transport, agriculture, digital technologies and industry.
The parties also discussed the issue of expanding interregional cooperation. Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to develop direct relations and implement joint projects with the states of Missouri, North Carolina, Texas and Hawaii, represented by members of the US delegation.
During the conversation, views were also exchanged on topical issues of regional and international importance.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to organize mutual visits of business missions of Uzbekistan and the United States.
