Nabi Ganiyev was born on September 15, 1904, in the city of Tashkent. He first studied at an old-method school, and later at the "Namuna" school. Before starting his studies at the Higher Art and Technical Studios in Moscow in 1924, he led an amateur art club for theatrical performances and staged plays.
In 1925, he returned to Tashkent and joined the "Sharq Yulduzi" film studio. Later, he worked in various positions at "Uzbekkino". In 1926, he wrote the first manuals in the Uzbek language titled "Screenplay" and "Film Actor".
In 1927–1928, he played various roles in the films "The Carriage with an Umbrella" and "The Leper Girl". He also served as an assistant director on films such as "The Sun of Happiness" and "The Last Bek".
He began his independent directing career in 1928. Between 1931 and 1935, he directed the films "Rise", "An Amazing Event", "The Well of Death", "Ramadan", and "Yigit". In 1941, he presented "We Will Win" and "Brave Friends", and four years later, "Tohir and Zuhra". "The Girl from Fergana" was released in 1948.
He also directed films such as "The Adventures of Nasruddin", "Nasruddin in Bukhara", and "Latinization".
In 1937, Nabi Ganiyev was accused of counter-revolutionary activity and imprisoned for 27 months. The content of his film "Whose Power Is It?" was also a reason for this. Released in 1939, the creator passed away on October 19, 1953.
